World's Toughest Row: Boat Wrap
I was commissioned to design a wrap for a Rannoch R45, a vessel capable of crossing oceans. Challenging and rewarding, this was an all time favorite project of mine. It took lots of meticulous planning and collaboration with the teams that printed and wrapped the boat as each element of the artwork had to be adapted for an application this large where each mistake would be noticed. This project was also a favorite of mine because I have a special personal attachment to this boat. ••• My dad and his team of 3 other men decided to take on the world’s toughest row. A 2800 mile crossing of the Pacific Ocean from Monterey Bay, California to Hanalei Bay, Hawaii. They started on June 8, 2024 and expect to reach Hawaii in 30-40 days. Their team name, Human Powered Potential and their motto, “inspired to endure” are representative of their main sponsor, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research. Not only are they rowing to raise money to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease, but one of the team members is currently living with PD. His endurance and the strength of other Parkinson’s patients inspire the notion that no human is limited even with this disease. The design is simple yet vibrant and captures the spirit of their message. The neuron design signifies Parkinson's neuron degeneration and the tagline "Inspired to Endure" is a testament to the team's willingness to endure their comparatively short endeavor out of honor and respect for those whom endure the challenges of Parkinson's Disease for so much longer.
