rAiR

This is rAiR, a sneaker powered by pneumatic muscles. By applying technology utilized in robotics, the air muscles in my design contain and take up the space around the foot, creating a customizable 360-degree fit. rAiR addresses the issues with conventional laces. Laces capture the foot by drawing it down into the shoe rather than uniformly wrapping and enclosing it in all dimensions.  rAiR can be inflated via a pump in the heel and take just a second to inflate. The muscles can be deflated by simply pressing the air release valve near the toe box.
